Week two of the asynchronous Parsha themed craft circle.
(Just as a reminder: I will post to the Facebook group and this page a recommended craft that loosely parallels some of that week’s themes. (If you have ideas for the craft – please let me know!) FYI - my versions will be geared towards the Shabbat B’Yachad and preschool set and will use art materials relatively easily found. That said, I want the whole community involved …. so use this just as a jumping off point to make anything you are inspired to do, including “adult” projects. Finally, a craft circle only works if it is a group effort so please share! Post pictures of your art to this thread in the comments.)
Parshat Bamidbar: In this Torah portion, God tells Moses to conduct a census of all the Israelite men over the age of 20. The project of the week is Gematria Name Art.
Gematria is an alphanumeric code of assigning a numerical value to a name based on its letters. For Aryeh's, we calculated his name to be valued 216. We then use 216 stickers to decorate the hebrew letters in Aryeh that I enlarged and printed from here: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/238690848980598067/. You could use anything to decorate your name - dry macaroni, beads, or colorful marker dots, and could easily just write the letters if that's easier than printing them. I’ve attached photos of our version as well as a guide to how to calculate your name's value.
Looking forward to seeing your creativity.
